I Want To Start Making 8 And 16 Bit Style Video Games?

I have some (I believe) great ideas for some video games, but I have no idea how to go about doing it. I want them to be in simple 8-16 bit graphics, so I’m not sure if the C ++ that I’ve been hearing about is what I’m looking for. If someone could give me some advice I’d really appreciate it.
